Islamabad: Pakistan’s industry leaders, K-Electric and Indus Motors Company Limited, have successfully rolled through the COVID-19 pandemic with the adoption of intelligent holistic business operation solutions by SAP, a global technology company, setting a precedent for Pakistan’s business industry with digital transformation.

While companies worldwide were already gearing up for their digital transformation journey in search of growth opportunities and in response to increased competitive pressure, the unforeseeable effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have further accelerated this transformation.

Indus Motor Company Limited, a leading Pakistani automobile manufacturer, has also revolutionized the Pakistan business industry, by being the first company worldwide to have implemented the next-generation suite in the automotive industry. The seamless integration of SAP’s cloud platform has given Indus Motors access to expansive memory, while SAP’s S/4 HANA has enabled Indus Motors to enhance its operations in terms of procuring demands and ensuring supply within a faster delivery time, accelerating its overall productivity and customer satisfaction.

“Due to the pandemic, the majority of our staff who worked directly at the plant had to work from home,” said Faizan Mustafa, CIO and Digital Innovation Head, Indus Motors. “Our digital transformation with SAP, allowed us to regulate all our operations remotely without any hassle and allowed us to keep up with the demands of our customers. Taking into account the constant fluctuations in our demands, SAP’s S/4 HANA helped us with flexibility and speed in materials requirements planning (MRP), improving it by 95 percent as compared to previous processing times. With further investment in IBP and RPA, we aim to enhance our efficiency and productivity to meet the ever-increasing demands of our customers.”

KE has been at the forefront of implementing latest digital solutions and has previously adopted SAP ERP solutions for its intelligent business operations.

Commenting on the power utility’s digital journey, Naz Khan, Chief Strategy Officer, K-Electric, said, “From generation to transmission and distribution, our dedicated KE team strives to use the latest technologies and digital solutions to ensure uninterrupted supply to our consumers while maintaining best possible business operations”.

SAP is championing how innovative technologies can integrate into digital transformation roadmaps for the public and private sectors alike, to deliver the biggest benefit. The company is also promoting its “Back to Best” resources and solutions, which can help organizations to move forward from COVID-19.

“As a consumer-centric organization, SAP puts the highest value on the needs of its customers and strives to provide the best possible digital solutions to its clients as per their specific needs and situation,” said Saquib Ahmed, Managing Director, SAP Pakistan. “Keeping in mind the current rapid changing nature of business dynamics around the world, we hope to promote awareness around the importance of digital transformation and how it can benefit industries across the region so that our business sector can emerge as a stronger and more resilient intelligent enterprise.”Indus Motors and K-Electric Steer Pakistan’s Digital Transformation through the COVID-19 Pandemic
