Tashkent : As of 1:00 PM, over 9.49 million citizens participated in the elections for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local councils of deputies.

According to the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, out of 19.94 million registered voters, more than 9.49 million cast their votes by 1:00 PM, resulting in a voter turnout of 47.62%.

“The elections have been declared valid,” stated Bakhram Kuchkarov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission, at a briefing.

According to the Electoral Code, elections are considered valid if at least 33% of registered voters participate.

No legal violations were reported during the voting process.

Five political parties are participating in the elections: the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People—Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Democratic Party “Milliy Tiklanish,” the Ecological Party, the People’s Democratic Party, and the Social Democratic Party “Adolat.”

A total of 5,770 district and 11,028 precinct election commissions have been organized, including 57 polling stations located in 40 foreign countries.

Voting is ongoing, with polling stations set to close at 8:00 PM.

It is important to note that this election is being conducted for the first time under a mixed majoritarian-proportional system: out of 150 seats in the Legislative Chamber, 75 deputies will be elected from single-member districts, while the remaining 75 will be elected from a unified district based on votes cast for political parties.
