Respected Sir,
I write to you as a concerned student and citizen who is deeply inspired by the recent victory of Arshad Nadeem who won a historic gold medal at the 2024 Olympics. This remarkable achievement has brought immense pride to Pakistan and highlights the incredible potential of our youth. However, it also brings to light a pressing issue that requires immediate attention which is the lack of encouragement and infrastructure for physical education in our country.
Being a student, I have personally experienced less importance placed on physical activities within our education system. For instance, during the first semester, we have a course titled “Physical Education”, which ironically, involves no physical activities whatsoever. Instead of engaging in sports or games, students are confined to memorizing the rules of sports as well as learning about the internal and external organs of the human body without any practical applications. This approach not only negates what physical education stands for but also discourages student participation in these activities.
Arshad Nadeem’s success story demonstrates the power of determination and perseverance even
with limited resources and a lack of proper facilitates and governmental encouragement. His journey serves as an inspiration and a reminder of the potential of our youth.
Therefore, the concerned authorities should integrate physical activities into the curriculum across all levels including primary, secondary, and higher education. Sport and physical education need not only be theoretical but also practical which can help in creating a healthy society. In this way, we can ensure that our children will be both academically and athletically competent individuals who can represent Pakistan at the international level.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
