Pakistan officially welcomes Iranian Foreign MinisterIslamabad – The official welcoming ceremony of Iranian Foreign Minister “Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif” was held a few moments ago in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and it was broadcast live on the national television of Pakistan (PTV).

According to IRNA, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who started his two-day visit to Pakistan at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, today (Wednesday) after meeting with the Pakistani Army Commander.

Upon entering the Pakistani Foreign Ministry’s ceremonial hall in Islamabad, Zarif was greeted by his counterpart and a group of Pakistani officials.

Pakistan National Television (PTV) broadcast the welcoming ceremony of Iranian Foreign Minister live.

Mohammad Javad Zarif also planted a sapling in the green space of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, drawing the friendship of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, consultations between the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Pakistan, chaired by Mohammad Javad Zarif and Shah Mahmoud Qureshi, began with senior members of the two sides’ delegations.

“Mohammad Ibrahim Taherian”, the Special Representative of the Iranian Foreign Minister for Afghanistan, “Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini”, the Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, and some deputies and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran are present at this meeting.

Pakistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Soheil Mahmood, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Rahim Hayat Qureshi and some regional deputies, led by Shah Mahmood Qureshi, make up the Pakistani delegation.

Mohammad Javad Zarif has traveled to Pakistan 10 times as Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran since the beginning of the incumbent government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and today is his 11th visit to the eastern neighbor.

This is Zarif’s fourth visit to Pakistan since inauguration of the Pakistani government under Prime Minister Imran Khan. Mohammad Javad Zarif was the first high-ranking official of a foreign country to travel to Islamabad in September 2017 with the beginning of Imran Khan’s government and he congratulated the formation of the new government of Pakistan.
