Turkish Presidential Adviser Ibrahim Kalin and US National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien had a telephone conversation.
The telephone conversation focused on Syria and regional issues, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, security cooperation and bilateral relations.
During the conversation, they discussed the importance of investigating the diplomatic settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, emphasizing that the Armenian side’s violation of the ceasefire and attacks targeting the Azerbaijani civilian population are contrary to international law and unacceptable.
It was also reiterated that Armenia should completely withdraw from the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding territories in order to establish a lasting peace.
They stressed the importance of the international community taking real steps to restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within the framework of UN Security Council and OSCE resolutions.
At the same time, it was noted that the recent increase in attacks by the regime and its supporters in the Idlib region of Syria is a source of concern. In order to prevent new crises, it was considered expedient to protect the March 5 agreement and support the political settlement process within the framework of this agreement.
