Islamabad:Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research(NFSR),Syed Fakhar Imam addressed International Olive Conference in Khuzdar today via Zoom.

He said that University of Engineering & Technology, Khuzdar is the oldest Engineering University of the Province. Providing technical Base and Research platform to youngsters and contributing its due share in socio economic uplift of Pakistan in general, and Balochistan in Particular. UET Khuzdar reputation and ranking has improved enormously in the last few years and it is recognized as one of the top university of the country.

He was of the point of view that dedicated Local & Foreign qualified faculty & graduates are contributing in the development of the country by serving in different public & private organizations. University of Engineering & Technology Khuzdar has successfully Planted 4000 olive plants in University premises and established four green tunnels with 1,60,000 olive saplings capacity under efficient & innovative mist irrigation system.

Syed Fakhar Imam added that the PSDP Olive Project in Pakistan under the Ministry of Food Security & Research installed Efficient Irrigation System on 10+10 acres along with provision of Olive Plants for 10 acres in university of Engineering & Technology Khuzdar. While state of the art “Weather Station “has been installed by the same project in The University under the ministry concerned.

He added that Khuzdar is located in the southern region of Balochistan having multi dynamic capacity in terms of Natural and other resources. Khuzdar has a feasible demographic and cultural heritage having great potential of ideal Olive Production, while Khuzdar is considered as an Ideal olive Production with 28% oil contents in the country.
Keeping such ideal & pivotal importance of the area concerned, the PSDP Olive Project Selected UET Khuzdar for International Olive Conference.
