Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan sign protocol on regulation of armed conflict in border areas

Bishkek : Deputy Chairman of Cabinet and National Security Committee Chairman Lt. General Kamchibek Tashiev held talks with Tajikistan National Security Comittee Chairman Saimumin Yatimov last night.

Following the held talks and in line with the earlier reached agreements on ceasefire and de-escalation of situation, the protocol on regulation of the armed conflict in border areas of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was signed.

The protocol envisions total termination of hostilities, disenagement of troops and military equipment to their permanent duty stations, joint inspection of border outsposts and commandant’s offices, thorough investigation of the armed clashes that occurred on September 14 and 16.

The protocol was signed by Kamchibek Tashiev and Saimumin Yatimov.

“The joint work on the soonest re-establishment of peace and stability in border areas is ongoing,” the National Security Committee said.
