Charsadda: While in KP, SAPM Dr. Sania Nishtar made a visit to Charsadda to review the Ehsaas Registration Desks. Under the umbrella of Ehsaas, the special purpose registration desks are being mobilized in all districts where phase one of the Ehsaas National Socio-economic Registry Survey has been completed. The purpose is that households whose survey has not been conducted for any reason can come forward to self-register themselves in the Ehsaas programme.

Charsadda is one of the districts in KP where registration desks have been opened in every Tehsil. Dr. Sania visited the registration desks to see operations. She interacted with staff who were present and with both men and women who were lined up for registration. Dr. Sania spent a lot of time with the people especially finding out about difficulties they were facing during the registration process. She instructed the officials to facilitate the people in registration so that they do not have to wait for long hours.

“To ensure inclusion of deserving households in the Ehsaas survey process, we are opening registration desks in all districts of Pakistan. The opening of registration districts is linked to the completion of Ehsaas survey that is underway nationwide in a phased manner”, said Dr. Sania.

At the centre, Dr. Sania also interacted with the district administration in Charsadda and urged them to communicate more frequently with people who were lining up with these centres. She also directed the district administration to specify the days for registration of people from each union council so that people do not have to wait in long queues.

During the visit, Dr. Sania also explored with the district administration about how to improve communication with people in communities and detailed modalities were discussed and agreed upon in this regard.
