Four months have passed since the machine-gunning, with an assault rifle and with the intention of killing, against the Cuban Embassy in Washington and the United States does not publicly recognize or denounce its terrorist character.
Terrorism remains a serious challenge for the international community and cannot be eradicated if double standards, manipulation, political opportunism and selectivity prevail in dealing with it.
None of the charges that the US government has brought against the defendant classify as terrorism. This attitude contradicts his own antiterrorist rhetoric.
By not recognizing the terrorist nature of the April 30, 2020 attack against our diplomatic mission in Washington, the United States administration hides its history of state terrorism against Cuba and the impunity of violent groups in its own territory. Cuba will never be able to forget the long history of terrorism against its diplomats.
Instead, there is sufficient evidence of Cuba’s bilateral collaboration with the United States in the fight against terrorism and joint law enforcement and efforts.
Cuba has always expressed the deepest rejection and condemnation of all terrorist acts, methods and practices, in all their forms and manifestations, by anyone who commits them, against anyone, wherever they are carried out; with whatever motivations, including those cases in which States are directly or indirectly involved.
We demand that the government of the United States publicly denounce the terrorist nature of that attack and that it share with Cuba the information related to this unfortunate event.
Once again, the hostility of the United States government against Cuba and its refusal to cooperate in the fight against terrorism that they promote so much is demonstrated.
