Islamabad:The Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly stressing importance of stronger ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially the policy of the Islamabad government to strengthen bilateral trade vows to play a role in expanding cooperation between the two countries.

Qasim Khan Suri made the remarks during a meeting with the Ambassador of Iran Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini here in Islamabad on Friday, the eve of his official visit to Iran.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Iran-Pakistan relations, the development of trade on common borders, including setting up of border markets, parliamentary cooperation, the Islamic world, and the region, as well as developments in Afghanistan.

The Deputy Speaker who is a senior member of the Tehreek-e-Insaf ruling party said he was looking forward to his next visit to Tehran.

Qasim Khan Suri who belongs to Balochistan province, which borders Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province, said the Parliament of Pakistan supports all initiatives to strengthen relations with the brotherly country and neighbor of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He said the exchange of high-level delegations between the two countries, especially the visit of parliamentary officials, will be an effective step to strengthen brotherly relations and help remove obstacles to enhance cooperation.

The Iranian ambassador to Pakistan recalled the numerous visits of Iranian officials to Islamabad, including the visit of the chairman and members of the Iran-Pakistan parliamentary friendship group to the Islamic Consultative Assembly in mid-October last year, and last week’s visit to Pakistan by the Iranian interior minister, terming them effective to help develop mutual cooperation.

Expressing satisfaction with the upcoming visit of the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan to Iran, Hosseini said that the presence of Qasim Khan Suri in the Parliament and the political community of Pakistan is important in strengthening bilateral relations in all fields.

He stressed the need to expand parliamentary interactions and exchange of delegations between the two countries.IRNA —
