ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday termed the alleged audio clip of former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar a charge sheet against current government. While addressing a press conference, Maryam said that Saqib Nisar will have to speak the truth one day and tell the nation why he unjustly sentenced three time prime minister. She said that first former CJP denied any connection with the clip and said that it is not him who can be heard in the audio. Then, he said that his audio from various occasions had been spliced together to create the clip.

Maryam said that as soon as the audio came out, propaganda regarding the clip began to prove that the clip was doctored despite the fact that a very renowned American company did the forensic analysis of the clip. They have clearly stated that the clip has not been edited in any way, she added. The PML-N leader demanded to know which speech those bits, where ex-CJP is talking about sentencing PML-N leaders, were from. Maryam Nawaz demanded answers from former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar, asking him to come forth and tell the nation who “pressured” him and whom it was that he “could not refuse” regarding her conviction and that of her father, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, in the Avenfield apartments reference.

The PML-N leader said that when Nisar was asked what he plans on doing about the allegations against him, he said he is “not mad to pursue the matter in court”. Maryam, addressing the former CJP, said: “Whether today, or tomorrow, you will have to tell the nation the truth. There is still time. Come forth, tell the nation who pressured you to sentence Nawaz Sharif if it was unwarranted? Who pressured you to sentence Maryam Nawaz, if it was without merit. And who told you that Imran Khan needs to be brought to power?” “Who was it that you could not refuse, despite being the chief justice of Pakistan at the time?” she continued. “Why were you forced to take an illegal, unconstitutional step?” she asked. “You will have to answer all this.”

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is a tool of the government. Talking to media persons, Maryam Nawaz said that when nothing comes out of the cases, the anti-graft watchdog has to be ashamed. PML-N Vice President said that the government is the real culprit as when NAB fails to come up with anything, then the government comes to its rescue. It merits mention that a two-member bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) is hearing appeals filed by Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar against sentence in Avenfield reference.
