Says PML-N has its own history of influencing courts

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday expressed Pakistan’s desire to strengthen bilateral ties with Qatar in diverse fields. The prime minister stated this as Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan Sheikh Saoud Abdulrahman called on him, the PM Office
said. The ambassador conveyed greetings of the leadership of Qatar to the prime minister, which was reciprocated by him.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has its own history of influencing courts. A meeting of the government leaders was held under the chairmanship of PM Imran Khan.
The issue of affidavit of former judge of Gilgit-Baltistan was discussed in the meeting.
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior and Accountability Shahzad Akbar and Barrister
Ali Zafar briefed the meeting on the legal matters on the issue. Shahzad Akbar said that it seems that PML-N is behind this plan, adding that the purpose of affidavit is to make the cases against PML-N leaders controversial.
Barrister Zafar Ali said that the PML-N must be held accountable for contempt of court for affecting the judicial proceedings. On the occasion, Imran Khan said that PML-N) has its own history of influencing courts, adding that it has always attacked state institutions.

Khan has decided against jacking up the fuel prices. The prime minister took a decision in order to provide relief to the masses, the federal government has said. The prices of petroleum products are fixed by the government for 15 days.
Earlier on November 5, the government had jacked up the prices of petrol and diesel by more than Rs8 per litre, days after the prime minister had announced a relief package for the masses.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the price of petrol was hiked by
Rs8.03 to Rs145.82 per litre while that of high-speed diesel by Rs8.14 to Rs142.62 per liter.
