Karachi: Dawlance is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arcelik Turkey – the 2nd largest home appliances manufacturing company in Europe. With a commitment to improve healthcare facilities in Pakistan, Arcelik has recently sent 10 Respiratory Ventilators to Dawlance for donating these advanced life-saving ventilators to major hospitals in Pakistan under its “Dawlance for Humanity” initiative.

In April, Arçelik, joined hands with the Turkish Ministry of Health and Ministry of Industries and partnered with major Turkish technology enterprises to produce these mechanical ventilators, on a not-for-profit basis. The rapid prototyping facilities at Arçelik Garage – an innovation center in Istanbul, was used by a team of 120 engineers, to design, produce and test the initial prototype in just 2 weeks. By June, 5,000 devices had been manufactured at its Çerkezköy electronics factory, to meet domestic and international demand. In Pakistan the institutions where these ventilators are being donated by Dawlance includes; 2 Ventilators at the NDMA COVID Hospital Islamabad, 2 Vents at The Indus Hospital Karachi, 2 Vents at the Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplant (SIUT) Karachi, 2 Vents at Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, 1 Vent at Daw University Hospital (Ojha Campus) and 1 at Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.

Over the past few months, Dawlance itself has donated a large number of valuable Refrigerators, Air-conditioners, microwave-ovens, Incubation-Chambers, PPE’s & other appliances to medical-care institutions all over Pakistan. These new equipment and technologies are enhancing the hospitals’ capacity to deliver better care to the patients. The donations have equipped the doctors and para-medical staff on the frontline against the virus, so they are enabled to save more lives during this public-health crisis. This pledge of ventilators by Arcelik and Dawlance is a testimony that Pakistan and Turkey holds strong bilateral relations which can be evidently observed.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dawlance – Umar Ahsan Khan stated that; “It is a pleasure to acknowledge that these advanced ventilators produced at the Arçelik factory in Turkey have been received by Dawlance, to be donated to the leading healthcare institutions of Pakistan. This kind gesture by Arcelik signifies the strong bilateral relationship between Turkey and Pakistan. The robust collaboration and sharing of innovative technologies between Dawlance and Arcelik will continue to bring great benefits for the nation, while further strengthening the bonds between the people of Pakistan and Turkey.

Dawlance-Arcelik understands that in the wake of this global pandemic, Pakistan’s health-care infrastructure needs enrichment. Therefore, it is inspiring the resourceful corporate sector to contribute generously, to minimize the socio-economic impact of this disease. The “Dawlance for Humanity” initiative aims to develop and support health care infrastructure of Pakistan along with creating awareness for environmental sustainability for the masses.
