Inspire observed World Labour DayIslamabad :  World Labor Day is celebrated on 1st May each year to pay tribute to working men and women to honor their contribution to the prosperity and welfare of a country. This day is celebrated so that people could reflect on their achievements that they have gained by working for years and their contribution towards their country, society and families’ well-being. This day aims to end struggle and promote eight-hour work day. Amongst other things, the hazardous working conditions and working hours from 10 to 16 hours a day resulted into number of deaths and injuries. Therefore, keeping intact the rights of labors, the 8-hour work complimenting safe working conditions is being practiced all over the globe.
However, workers still do not enjoy their due legitimate rights considering the industrialization, advancement in technology and unfavorable working conditions. The violation of labor rights has not limited itself to adults but has taken children into account as well. As Children in the developing countries including Pakistan are being used as child labor due to lack of education, poverty, underprivileged society and violation of fundamental human rights. A rough estimate of 210 million children between ages 5 to 14 are currently working all over the world which makes it 18% of the world child population.
Inspire Pakistan endeavors to create awareness to bring attention of government and general public towards labor laws, protection of labor rights, creating a positive image of migrant workers and standing against child labor.
