New York :  The Republic of Yemen called on the International Security Council (UNSC), Human Rights Council and United Nations to condemn Iran-allied Houthi militias and hold its leadership accountable for slaughtering nine citizens among them a child, the militiamen killed them on September 18, 2021 in Sana’a in blatant breach of international conventions and Stockholm Agreement which stipulated releasing all prisoners, abductees and enforced disappeared persons.

Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the UN Abdullah Assa’di handed over a letter today to the UNSC in which the Yemeni government expressed deep concerns about the fate of the Yemenis who have been subjected to the Houthi militia’s illegal trials.

The letter stated that Houthi militias had kidnapped the nine victims (one more victim died under torture) , kept them enforced disappeared for more than three years they were subjected to inhumane treatment, brutally and systematically tortured to confess crimes they had nothing to do with.

The government noted that the illegitimate Houthi court issued a verdict of execution against the nine victims and ordered the victims’ families to evacuate the victims’ houses to confiscate their own properties, demanding the victims’ families pay 3 million Yemeni Rials (YR) approximately ($5 thousand) as litigations fees.
