ISLAMABAD:<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0The Embassy of Indonesia in Islamabad organised a vibrant community event as part of celebrations leading up to Indonesia\u2019s 81st Independence Anniversary<\/b><\/strong>, bringing together Indonesian nationals, families, students, diplomats and Pakistani friends.<\/p>\n

\"\"The event began with a community gym programme at the Embassy\u2019s Garuda Lawn, followed by traditional games, sports competitions, an Indonesian food bazaar and community activities. Indonesian Ambassador Chandra W. Sukotjo<\/b><\/strong>, accompanied by his spouse Tamara Y. Sukotjo, welcomed participants and highlighted the strong people-to-people bonds between Indonesia and Pakistan.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Ambassador said the gathering reflected the enduring friendship between the two brotherly countries and celebrated Indonesia\u2019s Independence Day under the motto \u201cIndonesia Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous.\u201d<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0Participants received red and white Batik-patterned shirts inspired by Kalimantan as a symbol of Indonesian cultural heritage and national pride.<\/p>\n

The food bazaar offered a variety of Indonesian delicacies, including Nasi Padang, Siomay Ikan, Bakso Kuah, Es Cendol, Peyek, Mendoan and Kacang Telur, allowing participants to experience the country\u2019s diverse culinary traditions.<\/p>\n

\"\"Traditional games, including Balap Karung (Sack Race), Tarik Tambang (Tug of War)<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and Joget Tomat (Tomato Dance)<\/b><\/strong>, provided entertainment for children and adults. Sports competitions featuring badminton, table tennis, volleyball and futsal promoted teamwork and camaraderie among the Indonesian community, Embassy officials and students.<\/p>\n

Indonesian nationals and students said the celebration created a sense of home and belonging despite being away from their homeland. The event also highlighted Indonesia-Pakistan people-to-people ties, with participants from various professional and social backgrounds.<\/p>\n
