<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\nTEHRAN: Tens of thousands of mourners gathered in the Iranian capital on Sunday as state funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, began at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla, marking one of the largest public gatherings in Iran in recent years.<\/p>\n
The funeral, which is scheduled to continue over several days with ceremonies in multiple cities, has emerged as both a deeply religious occasion and a significant political event. Pakistan was represented by a high-level delegation led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. They attended the funeral prayers in Tehran and conveyed condolences on behalf of the Government and the people of Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Ayatollah Khamenei, describing him as a leader whose wisdom, leadership and influence would be remembered for generations.
