Islamabad : Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a clarification on a news story published in the daily Express Tribune in its issue dated 16th June, 2021. The story conveys an impression of divergence of views between Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue and FBR Officers during visit of Finance Minister in FBR HQ on the subject of possible revenue generation through integrated Point of Sales retailers.

FBR has clarified that there was complete harmony between the minister and FBR in determination of goals and objectives to achieve revenue target of the coming fiscal year, broadening of tax base, evolving of future strategy to increase revenue through integration & monitoring of POS linked retailers and other basic contours of future work to get off the ground from first of July, 2021. The proceedings of the meeting were conducted in a very candid environment under the guidance and leadership of Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue and ended after exchange of fruitful discussion on the subject of POS and increase in tax net by the participants.
