ISLAMABAD: Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan Asad Qaiser said Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy close brotherly relations, manifested byh the tremendous goodwill of leadership and people of the two countries. He addresses the gathering on the occasion of 30th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan as Chief Guest. A large number of Diplomats Ambassadors, High commissioners, government officials and media persons had attended the event.

Asad Qaiser said Pak-Azeri relationship is based on common faith, shared ideals and a mutual desire to live in peace and dignity. Whether it is the issue of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir or Karabagh, the fraternity of our countries has resonated together on regional and international platforms in support of each other. The whole world is witness to the strong bonds of fraternity that bind our two nations.

He said that in order to demonstrate our love for the brotherly people of Azerbaijan, the Remembrance Day was also celebrated in Pakistan. The building of Pakistan Monument in Islamabad which is the symbol of Pakistan’s unity and territorial integrity was lit with the colors of Azerbaijani flag. Speaker said that the victory of Azerbaijan in last year’s war was a remarkable feat. No wonder, the liberation of Azerbaijani territories was also celebrated in Pakistan.

The leadership, armed forces and people of Azerbaijan deserve appreciation for this accomplishment. He prayed that sooner than later, the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir will be liberated from the foreign occupation. Speaker concluded the statement “I would like to once again congratulate the government and the people of Azerbaijan. I am confident that the existing relations between our two brotherly countries will further grow from strength-to-strength”.

Speaking on the occasion Azerbaijani Ambassador Khazar Farhadov said that “Pakistan has openly supported all the matters pertaining to Azerbaijan’s integrity,”. He said, “Pakistan is the first country that accepted Azerbaijan.” Further showering praise for the country, the envoy added that Pakistan’s parliament had also approved resolutions pertaining to Azerbaijan.

He was of the view that Azerbaijan was a strong country and become a leading country in the region and has achieved a sustainable economic development under President Ilham Aliyev leadership. The Azerbaijani people were also celebrating the first anniversary of the return of occupied territories from Armenia to Azerbaijan this year, he added.

He also spoke about the trilateral agreement between Pakistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. A high-level liaison forum was established between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan in 2017, he said, adding that mutual relations among the three countries were getting “closer and stronger” because of the launch of the forum at the level of foreign ministers of the three countries.

Ambassador said that “Azerbaijan plays an active role in the creation and developing of international transport corridors such as East-West, NorthSouth and South-West transit routes over its territory”.

He said Azerbaijan, as an independent state, expanding and deepening its activities at the regional and global levels, including cooperation in the international organization. Azerbaijan is recognized as a leader in the region and a reliable partner in the international arena. He emphasized in particular that we are grateful for the resolute position of brother Pakistan on the issues of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity before and during the Patriotic War. Khazar Farhadov said that “During the Patriotic War government and people of Pakistan morally and politically supported us, National Assembly and Senate of Pakistan adopted resolutions condemning Armenian aggression and supporting Azerbaijan’s just position to restore its territorial integrity”
